Veteran bingo player Jan Anthony, right, buys a batch of bingo games and ink stamps from Post Commander Darrell Hovland and Chairman Bob Callahan on Saturday, the last night bingo was held in Cassville. The game has been a long-standing tradition in Cassville and has been held at the American Legion for 35 years. Lack of attendance led to the decision to end the games, which had been open to the community since 1980. At one point, the group had over 200 players attending Saturday nights. Alisha Ginn, left, and Angelina Tharp, play bingo for the last time at the American Legion Saturday. At one point, the group had over 200 players attending Saturday nights. Over the years, the group donated thousands of dollars from bingo proceeds to local organizations and residents in need throughout the year and during Christmas. The jackpot for the night was $600. American Legion members are currently considering several potential options to provide activities and generate funding that the game provided. Julia Kilmer reporter@cassville-democrat.com
