5 teens injured in Leann wreck
Vehicle loses control on curve, hits tree
Five teenagers suffered injuries Thursday in a wreck at 2 a.m. on Farm Road 1190, two miles north of Leann.
According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Montana Pennel, 17, of Aurora, was driving a 1998 Chevrolet Lumina when the vehicle lost control on a curve, ran off the roadway and struck a tree.
Pennel suffered minor injuries and was transported by privates vehicle to Cox South Hospital in Springfield. There were four passengers in the vehicle who suffered injuries. Michael Sullivan, 13, address unknown, and Al Valentine, 16, address unknown, each suffered moderate injuries and were transported by Cox ambulance to Cox South Hospital. Hailey Sharp, 14, and Janice Steele, 14, both of Marionville, each suffered minor injuries. Sharp was transported by Mercy ambulance to Cox South Hospital, and Steele was transported to Mercy Hospital in Springfield.
Sharp was wearing a safety device. The other four occupants were not wearing safety devices. The vehicle was totaled.
