Tax sale set for Aug. 24
The Barry County Collector's Office, headed by Collector Janice Varner, is preparing for the annual Barry County Real Estate Delinquent Tax Sale. Missouri law requires land with three years of delinquent taxes be sold on the fourth Monday in August of each year, falling on Aug. 24 this year. The first publication about the sale will be printed in the Cassville Democrat on July 15, at which time copies will be available at the collector's office. The tax sale listing can also be viewed at www.barrycountycollector.com, and will be updated when parcels are paid. Barry County Assessor Sherry Sears will have available for sale two booklets containing parcels that will be offered in the sale. The rural and city booklets will be $20, and the subdivision booklet will also be $20. People may also purchase both for $30. Those interested in purchasing a booklet may call Sears' office at 417-847-4589.
Absentee voting for Aug. 4 election underway
Absentee voting is underway for the Aug. 4 general municipal election, and the last day to register to vote is July 8. People may register at the Barry County Clerk's Office, the Monett Chamber of Commerce or the Shell Knob Chamber of Commerce. Those who have moved or updated their address should notify Gary Youngblood, Barry County clerk. Absentee voting is underway at the clerk's office in Cassville from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. If unavailable to vote in person, people may send a written request to Youngblood's office, addressed to: Gary Youngblood, 700 Main St. Suite 2, Cassville, MO, 65625. People may also fax requests to 417-847-5311. Requests should include: name, physical address, date of birth, last four of the voter's Social security number, a phone number, a reason for absentee voting and a signature. CHS purging record of class of 2010
Cassville High School will be purging the cumulative school records for the graduating class of 2010. People who would like to have their records must pick them up in person at the high school between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. by July 31. People who are unable to pick them up in person and would like someone to do it for them must have a signed request filed before the school may release them. In addition, anyone who should have graduated with the class of 2010 but dropped out may also pick up their cumulative records.
OACAC accepting registrations
for School Readiness Fair
The Ozarks Area Community Action Corporation's Barry County Neighborhood Center is accepting sign-ups for the School Readiness Fair. The fair itself will be on Aug. 1 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. All students living in Barry County and enrolled in grades pre-k to 12th grade are eligible to attend. Pre-registration is required. Community Foundation seeking grant applicants
The Cassville Community Foundation is accepting grant applications for the 2015 funding cycle. All not-for-profit, 501c(3) organizations that serve the Cassville community are encouraged to apply. Applications are available at the Cassville Area Chamber of Commerce and must be submitted by Sept. 1.
