Wildcat Nation only getting 4 home games this year

There are usually three questions that Cassville football fans want to know: When is the first game of the season, when do the Wildcats play Monett and how bad will the 'Cats beat the Cubs?

While the third a question is unanswerable at this moment, the first two questions can be fulfilled.

Cassville Coach Lance Parnell signals in a play during varsity action last season. The Wildcats open the 2015-2016 football campaign on Aug. 21 at home against Aurora. Kyle Troutman

Cassville High School has released the 2015-16 football schedule, and one glaring fact immediately jumps out -- the Wildcats are only guaranteed four home games this season, and Wildcat Nation will have to do a lot of travel.

Cassville opens the gridiron campaign at home on Aug. 21 against Aurora. The Houn' Dawgs will be seeking payback for a season-opening loss to the 'Cats last year.

Then, the Wildcats begin a three-week stretch of road games.

Aug. 28 they travel to Mountain Grove, opening September with Big 8 Conference road games at McDonald County on Sept. 4 and then the long drive to Lamar on Sept. 11.

After three games away from Wildcat Stadium, the black and gold return home on Sept. 18 for the third installment of the Barry County Brawl with Monett.

The two foes have split the first two meetings, with the home team in each series winning the game. One interesting Brawl series note that bodes well for the Wildcats -- the road team, in each game, has failed to score a point in either contest.

Cassville concludes the month with a home matchup with Carl Junction on Oct. 25.

It will also be the final time the Wildcats and Bulldogs will face each other as Big 8 Conference members.

October brings cooler temperatures and a road game on Oct. 2 at Mt. Vernon.

East Newton invades Cassville on Oct. 9 and the regular season concludes seven days later on Oct. 16 at Seneca.

All game times are set to kickoff at 7 p.m.
