Verona man injured in Purdy wreck
26-year-old arrested on DWI after Route C incident
A Verona man was injured and subsequently arrested following a wreck at about 1:50 a.m. Sunday morning on Route C, five miles east of Purdy.
According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Gabriel Gonzalez, 26, of Verona, was driving a 2002 GMC Envoy eastbound on Route C when his vehicle failed to negotiate a curve, ran off the right side of the roadway and struck several trees.
Gonzalez suffered serious injuries and was transported to Cox South Hospital in Springfield.
He was not wearing a safety device, and the vehicle was totaled.
At 2:23 a.m., Gonzalez was arrested by the Highway Patrol on four charges, including: driving while intoxicated, careless and imprudent driving, no drivers license and no insurance.
