Beverly Maher, 77, of Shell Knob, passed away Friday, June 26, 2015, in Mercy Hospital, Springfield.
She was born April 15, 1938, in Independence, Kan., the daughter of Ira and Fern (Thompson) Sparks. On July 5, 1956, at Camp Pendleton, Calif., she was united in marriage to Ignatius "Big Al" Maher, who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were her parents, one brother and one sister.
Survivors include: three sons, Jeff Maher, of Franklin, Tenn., Marty Maher, of Cassville, and Chris Maher and his wife, Amy, of Shell Knob; two daughters, Lisa Briley, of Springfield, and Nancy Foley, of Republic; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She grew up and received her education in Cherryvale, Kan., where she graduated from high school. In 1956, she and her husband moved to Tulsa, Okla. They moved to Shell Knob to make their home. For several years, she was secretary for Shell Knob Elementary School. She was an active member of Shell Knob First Baptist Church, was on the Kornerstone Board, delivered home meals for Shell Knob Senior Center and active at the Farmers Market.
Funeral services were held Monday, in Shell Knob First Baptist Church, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Shell Knob. Pastor Bob Gaddis conducted the services. Burial was at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery, Cherryvale, Kan.
