Mary Beck School of Dance recital slated for June 7
Dancers to perform award winning routines at annual event
Dancers from the Mary Beck School of Dance will present their annual year-end recital at 2 p.m. on June 7 at Taylor Auditorium at Missouri Southern State University in Joplin.
According to Mary Beck, the dancers will present group and line routines that won awards at the Dance Masters of America Chapter No. 27 competition, held March 27 through March 29 in Owasso, Okla.
On a 100 point scale, routines that earned gold (90-95 points) that will be presented include: "Think Pink," "Princess Moderna," "Jet Set" (first place trophy), "Ain't No Sunshine," "S'Wonderful" and "Artic."
Routines winning high silver (85-90 points) in the recital are: "Clap Your Hands," "Double Dutch Bus," "Bla Bla Cha Cha," "Girl Party" and "Wish."
Many solos in the recital received honors at the Dance Masters competition. Alex Bahl received a platiunum (95-100 points) for her solo in the show, "Don Juan." Gold solos (90-95 points) include: Lily Cahalan in "Hit Me With A Hot Note," Caitlyn Calhoun in "Sassy Girl," Madry McCrackin in "Come Get It Babe," Brooke Cornell in "They Go Wild Over Me" and Katie Kaiser in "Ain't Gonna Play No Second Fiddle."
High Silver (85-90 points) soloist in the recital include: Abbey Ball in "Lullaby of Broadway," Elizabeth Enos in "Steppin' Out," Morgan Slater in "Get Your Swagger On," Jaysa Aga in "BEAT," Carley Klewer in "Roxie," Harriett Meyer in "Don't Rain On My Parade" and Jordan Campbell in "Fifteen Minutes of Fame."
There will be 33 routines in this year's recital, and 13 are solos. Katie Kaiser will present the only senior solo of the program, a number which she choreographed.
Mary Beck and Kay Kaiser are teachers for the studio. Dance assistants are Nicole Salsman, Brooke Cornell, Alex Bahl and Sheila Roark Wright.
