33-year-old in jail on $100,000 bond

A 33-year-old Exeter man is facing two felony charges involving sexual contact with a minor.

According to a probable cause statement filed by Terry Meek, with the Barry County Sheriff's Office, on May 9 between 6-10 p.m., Steven Johnson, 38, Exeter, allegedly molested an 8-year-old female.

According to the victim, Johnson allegedly put his hand between her shorts and underwear and touched her in a sexual manner. She also said he rubbed her chest under her shirt with his hand.

Johnson has been charged with first-degree child molestation, a class B felony, and first-degree endangering the welfare of a child, a class C felony.

He is being held in the Barry County jail on a $100,000 bond and is scheduled for a disposition hearing on June 11 at 8:30 a.m. in the courtroom of Judge Robert Foulke.

It is the policy of the Cassville Democrat to not release the names of minors involved in such incidents.
