Heritage Festival at Roaring River slated for Saturday

A Heritage Festival will be held on Saturday at Roaring River State Park from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. across from the amphitheater and CCC lodge. Performances will include: the Possum Holler Fiddlers; Marcel Craig and Friends; HK Silvey, Albie Dooms, David Scrivner and Nathan McAlister; the Flying Buzzards; Ozark Mountain Revival; and Todd Wilkinson. Central Crossing hosting Lunch and Learn for new therapy office

On June 17 at 11:30 a.m., Chris Hoge, director of therapy services, will host a "Lunch and Learn" to discuss the new Mercy Therapy Services facility at the Central Crossing Senior Center in Shell Knob. He will explain the services to be provided, hours of operation and will introduce Nick Whelan, doctor of physical therapy, who will staff the new facility. Both men will be available to answer questions people have, and a meal will be served.

Oak Ridge Missionary Baptist hosting speaker Sunday

The Oak Ridge Missionary Baptist Church will host a special speaker on Sunday morning. Missionary Doug Lee will be sharing pictures and reporting on work done in the Philippines at 10 a.m., and preaching will begin at 11 a.m. The church is located at 16722 Highway 248, about five miles east of Cassville. Retirement ceremony to be held for Bro. Doyle, Gayle Russell

A retirement recognition ceremony will be held to honor Bro. Doyle Russell and Gayle Russell on Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Community Faith Chapel Church. Russell recently retired after pastoring Community Faith Chapel Church since July 1979. During his tenure of pastoring churches, Russell also served as chaplain of Roaring River Health and Rehab, Cassville Health Care and Rehab, Mercy Hospital and Hospice. He has performed weddings for numerous couples and has officiated at multiple funeral and memorial services in the area. An open mic program is planned in Russell's honor at the church, located at Highway 248 and 13th Street in Cassville.

Oklahoma man to preach at Wheaton church

Tony "Mac" McMullen, of Coweta, Okla., will share a message at the Body of Christ Outreach Church in Wheaton on June 12 at 7 p.m. The event is free, and for more information, people may call 417-652-3709. A former drug dealer who was convicted of shooting and killing his friend, McMullen found saving grace in prison and started Free in Christ ministries. He is available for speaking engagements for church services, youth meetings, civic groups and schools.

Lawn Mower Races coming to Fairview

Lawn Mower Races, followed by music and dance, will be held beside the city park in Fairview on Saturday, beginning at 4 p.m. There is a $5 entry fee for all racers and a concession stand will be available with hot dogs, chips, candy and cold drinks. Linebarger Family Reunion set for June 14

The Linebarger Family Reunion will be held on June 14 at the Purdy Community Center beginning at 11:30 a.m. A basket lunch will be served at 12:30 p.m. All relatives and friends are invited to attend.

Day Family Reunion to be held June 27

The Richard "Bud" Butler and Kate Clara (James) Day Family Reunion will be held on June 27 at 10:30 a.m. at the CCC pavilion at Roaring River State Park. Attendees should bring a potluck dish, lawn chairs and drinks (No alcohol). Those who like to pick and sing should also bring their instruments.
