Wheaton man injured in Joplin wreck
48-year-old hurt after vehicle hits tree
A Wheaton man was injured Saturday at about 11:18 p.m. in a wreck on Bison Road, two miles south of Joplin.
According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Gary Sills, 48, of Wheaton, was driving a 1989 Chevrolet Silverado southbound on Bison Road when his vehicle ran off the right side of the roadway and struck a tree.
Sills and a passenger in the vehicle, Vernard Franklin, 50, of Joplin, each suffered moderate injuries and were both transported by ambulance to Freeman West Hospital in Joplin.
Neither man was wearing a safety device, and the vehicle was totaled.
