Storms produce flooding, wind gusts

Hail reported north of Cassville, Mt. Vernon sees flooding

A line of storms Friday evening brought flooding, wind gusts and hail to the Barry and Lawrence County area.

According to reports from the National Weather Service, quarter-sized hail fell three miles northwest of Cassville at about 5:05 p.m. The hail report was relayed by broadcast media, and the time was estimated by radar.

Farther north, Mt. Vernon saw minor street flooding at 6 p.m., as approximately six inches of water was flowing over Landrum Street.

Halltown saw a wind gust of 60 miles per hour at 6:08 p.m., reported by a trained spotter.

Finally, the Missouri Department of Transportation at about 7 p.m closed Highway 97, two miles north of Stotts City at the Spring River, due to flooding.
