Cassville Middle School celebrates acts of service

Wednesday, May 27, 2015
Members of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) from Cassville Middle School celebrated acts of service to the community they coordinated and volunteered for during the 2014-2015 school year. Each month, the group goes to the local animal shelter, Haven of the Ozarks, to care for animals in the shelter, providing care, treats and walking dogs. During the year, the group made cupcakes to show appreciation for bus drivers, cookies for the sixth grade D.A.R.E. graduation and prepared food for track officials. In February, the group raised $437.73 by selling Crush bottles, which they donated to Heifer International to supply animals with food and clean water to third-world countries. They also used part of the proceeds to purchase a well from Gift of Water, animals from Flock of Hope and housing materials from The Gift of a Healthy Home for the project. The group works to better the lives of others around them and in the community and school. Front row, from left: Mackenzie High, Jillian Hang, Kya Kraft, Joua Thao and Lindsey Wells.
