Cassville Police look to fill pair of positions
Department seeks school resource officer with D.A.R.E. training, patrol officer
The Cassville Police Department is now accepting applications for two positions: a School Resource Officer with D.A.R.E. training, and a patrol officer.
According to Police Chief Dana Kammerlohr, the salaries depends on experience, but begin at $27,500.
Minimum requirements sought for the school resource officer position include an 80-hour course completion with D.A.R.E. America, and a 40-hour course completion in school resource officer training. The department would like a school resource officer who can develop lesson plans, which goes along with D.A.R.E. training. The
position would involve working with Cassville schools grades K-12 to serve, protect and educate school children. According to the National Association of School Resource Officers, an SRO serves as a teacher, counselor and law enforcement officer, working to protect school communities and promote a positive image of law enforcement to youth. Two years experience is preferred but may potentially be waived.
Minimum requirements for the patrol officer include Police Officer Standards of Training certification, and police academy completion. Two years experience is preferred, but not necessary.
"We are looking for a good personal fit with the department for these positions," Kammerlohr said. "[We want] someone who makes good decisions, is able to relate well to others and has a heart for the community."
