Goals within reach for Wildcats
Cassville baseball down to final 2 weeks of regular season
There is an old sports saying that goes, "You learn more from a loss than a win."
For Cassville coach Kyle Wood, that statement is the truth.
Despite just two wins in their last five tries, the Wildcats are still upbeat as the district tournament nears.
"I know we haven't won as many as we wanted to recently," Wood said. "But, we aren't as far off from where we need to be as many people think."
Two of the Wildcats' last three losses have been by one run, including an extra-innings loss to Monett.
"We played every one in our district but Nevada," Wood said. "Our only loss was to Monett and we took them to extra innings."
Wood believes that the loss to the Cubs was an eye-opener.
"I think the guys saw how close they are to being a good program when we played Monett," Wood said. "We don't have major issues that need to be fixed, just some minor adjustments. I think Monett is the clear No. 1 in our district, but the tournament is wide open for the taking."
Cassville travels to Logan-Rogersville on Thursday. First pitch is slated for 5 p.m.
