Cassville enters last day in 2nd place, 2 strokes back

The Cassville golf team trails Monett by two strokes as the Big 8 Conference field heads to Briar Brook in Carl Junction on Thursday.

The Cubs shot a 333 on Thursday in Cassville to best the remainder of the field.

Monett's Garrett Craig is the overall individual leader. He carded a three-over-par 75. Craig shot a 38 on the front nine and tallied a 37 on the back links.

Cassville's Parker Skinner and Aurora's Jordan Fronabarger are tied for second at 77.

Skinner carded a 40 on the front nine and bounced back with a 37 on the back side to reach his total.

Cassville's Dylan Garner was second on the team with an 83. Gabe Kirk was third with an 85, and Brett Nickle checked in with a 90.

Cassville is second in the team standings, just two strokes behind with a 335.

Lamar is third with 340, followed by Mt. Vernon, who is nine strokes back of the lead at 342.

The second day of the tournament is Thursday at Carl Junction's Briar Brooke Golf Club. Flights tee off at 9 a.m.
