Leroy Lorenzo Patton
Leroy Lorenzo Patton, 92, of Springdale, Ark. formerly of Wheaton, passed away Friday, April 24 2015. He was born near Stella, Aug. 5, 1922, the son of Elma Dora (Nicely) and Lorenzo Dow Patton.
He graduated from Stella High School 1942. He served in the U.S. Navy, three years aboard U.S.S. Murray DD576, a destroyer, in the South Pacific during World War II 1942-45.
He married Betty Ruth Cooper in Columbus, Kan., Nov. 10, 1945.
He was a farmer, truck driver, and well-known auctioneer. He was a member of Wheaton First Baptist Church for 35 years. They moved their membership to Prosperity Baptist Church, Rocky Comfort, in 1989.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Coy and John Patton; three sisters, Ocie, Evelyn and Dana Patton; and two sons-in-law, Bob Lyall and Larry Robbins.
Survivors include: his wife, Betty; two daughters, Cheyrl Lyall, of Springdale, Ark., and Joyce (Sallie) Robbins, of Shell Knob; 5 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at McQueen Funeral Home, Wheaton. Pastor Reiner Harper conducted the services with Pastor Dayton Brattin assisting. Burial was at Rocky Comfort Cemetery.
