Seligman man drowns in Arkansas lake
Incident still under investigation, may take up to a month
A Seligman man drowned in Beaver Lake, west of Eureka Springs, Ark., Sunday morning after falling out of a flat-bottom boat.
According to Keith Stephens, Arkansas Game and Fish Commission spokesman, a call was placed at about 2:30 a.m. reporting Russell Johnston, 38, of Seligman, had drowned in the lake.
"The investigation is still ongoing," Stephens said. "There were four people in a 10-foot, flat-bottom boat and they all fell out. Three made it to shore, but one drowned."
Stephens said the Carroll County (Ark.) Sheriff Office's dive team found Johnston's body at about 7 a.m. in 75 feet of water.
Stephens said there were no life jackets on board the boat, and in any fatality on the lake, the investigation will check to see if alcohol was involved. Stephens said the investigation may take up to a month.
