Dewey W. Swofford

Dewey W. Swofford, 80, of Wheaton, passed away Monday, April 6, 2015, in Mercy Hospital, Cassville.

He was born Feb. 4, 1935, in Barry County, the son of Melvin and Hattie (Bonham) Swofford. On Sept. 13, 1955, he was united in marriage to Yvonne Hudson, who survives.

Additional survivors include: one son, David Swofford, of Joplin; one daughter, Gail Pierce, of Wheaton; a brother, George Swofford, of Mountain Grove; four sisters, Lanora Sanders, of West Plains, Melva Peterson, of Clinton, Bernice VanFosson, of Springfield, and Wanda Sue Smith, of Hartville; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents; one brother; one sister; and a grandson.

He graduated from high school in Cassville. Most of his life was spent in Wheaton, where he farmed. He was also a surveyor for the State of Missouri. He was a member of Wheaton Church of Christ.

Services were held Saturday in McQueen Funeral Home, Wheaton. Steve Spillman and Brian O'Neill conducted the services.
