Eagles look to extend streak
Purdy riding 2-game win streak heading into Cassville
After dropping their first six games of the season, the Purdy baseball team needed something positive to hang its hat on.
Consecutive wins over Marionville and Diamond were just what Coach Joshua Hughes ordered.
"We were competing in our first few games, but never got the win," Hughes said. "We finally put everything together in the last two games. I have been impressed with our boys' poise and growth."
Hughes specifically pointed to the starting pitching from Sydney Birge and Robby Moody as keys to the wins.
"When we get our starters to go deep in games, it give us chance to win every night," Hughes said. "Robby and Sydney did that and our offense did just enough to win."
Purdy travels to Cassville on Thursday. Hughes is looking for his team to play better than they did the first time they met the wildcats this season.
"We had one inning where we allowed seven runs," Hughes said. "You can't do that and expect to win games. Outside of that one inning, we played with them."
First pitch is set for 5 p.m.
