Jerry D. King
Jerry D. King, 80, of Cassville, passed away in his home on Friday, March 6, 2015. He was born on Dec. 1, 1934, son of Earl and Zelma (Gochenouer) King, in Dakota City, Iowa. On April 5, 1952, he was united in marriage to Yvonne Johnson in Princeton. He joined the U.S. Marines serving for three years, and later re-enlisted in the U.S. Air Force from which he retired. He served in the Korean Conflict, as well as the Vietnam War. Mr. King later worked as a deputy sheriff for Mercer County in Princeton, and he worked at Fasco in Cassville for eight years.
Survivors include: his wife of 63 years, Yvonne King, of Cassville; one son, Kenny King and his wife, Dana, of Purdy; two daughters, Linda King, of Cassville, and Tammy King, of Bellingham, Wash.; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three brothers, James Main, of Warrensburg, Richard Main, of Laurens, Iowa, and Ronald Main, of Corydon, Iowa. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother.
Funeral services with full military honors conducted by the U.S. Air Force Honors Team will be held at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday) at the Gunter Fundamental Methodist Church, east of Butterfield, with Pastor Jerry Nickle and Pastor Mike Tharp officiating. Burial will follow at the Gunter Cemetery with traditional bagpipe music provided by Joel Wren.
