Exeter boys hoops hopes to extend season Saturday
The Exeter boys basketball team earned the No. 5 seed in the eight-team Class 1, District 4 basketball tournament
Bradleyville (18-5) earned the No. 1 seed with School of the Ozarks (15-7) claiming the No. 2 spot.
"We've got some work to do if we want to extend our season," said Jay Allen, Exeter coach. "We have to play as a team."
Hurley (13-10) was slotted as the No. 3 seed. Lutie (9-9) is the No. 4 seed. Exeter (6-15) took the No. 5 seed and New Covenant (4-18) fell to the No. 6 seed.
Niangua (2-20) and Chadwick (1-20) round out the tourney field as the Nos. 7 and 8 seeds, respectively.
Bradleyville and Chadwick will open tournament play at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Ozark, followed by Exeter and Lutie. The winners advance to face each other in the semifinals at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.
School of the Ozarks and Niangua square off at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, immediately followed by Hurley and New Covenant. The winners will play in the second semifinal on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
The championship is scheduled for Feb. 27 at 7:30 p.m.
