21-year-old facing 6 charges, injured in incident

A 21-year-old Purdy man was moderately injured after a wreck on Farm Road 1070, three miles south of Monett, that resulted in his arrest and six criminal charges.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Christopher Austin, 21, of Purdy, was driving a 2000 Toyota Camry southbound on Farm Road 1070 at about 12:45 a.m. when his vehicle ran off the roadway, struck a tree and overturned.

Austin suffered moderate injuries and was transported to Cox South Hospital in Springfield. He was not wearing a seatbelt, and the vehicle was totaled.

Austin is facing six charges in connection to the crash, including driving while intoxicated, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to provide insurance, failure to wear a seat belt and failure to drive on the right half of the roadway.
