Joyce Hughes, 69, of Seligman, passed away on Jan. 27, 2015, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield. She was born on June 21, 1945, in Milan, the daughter of Raymond and Geneva (Brummitt) Baldridge. She was a 1963 graduate of Milan High School. Following graduation, she worked as a secretary for the Meat Cutters Union in Kansas City. She was united in marriage to Robert "Bob" Hughes on April 14, 1995, in Kansas City. In March 1999, they retired and moved to Seligman. She was an active member of the Lions Club in Seligman and attended the New Salem Baptist Church in Seligman.
Survivors include: her husband, Robert "Bob" Hughes, of Seligman; two sons, Brian Johnston, of Eagleville, Tenn., and Russ (Jenny) Johnston, of Springfield; three grandchildren; two brothers, Ron Baldridge, of Kansas City, and Joe Baldridge, of Osceola, Iowa; and one sister, Kathryn Shafer, of Kirksville.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one grandson.
Memorials may be made to Susan G. Koman for the Cure or to the Bairdstown Cemetery and entrusted to the White Funeral Home & Crematory, PO Box 890, Cassville, MO 65625.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday at the White Funeral Home & Crematory in Cassville, with Rick Owsley officiating. Burial will be at the Bairdstown Cemetery, in Milan.
