Fitzpatrick named vice chairman of House Budget Committee
Representative: Always been interested in the state budget
State Rep. Scott Fitzpatrick, R-Shell Knob, recently received a new title to add to his resume -- vice chairman of the Budget Committee in the Missouri House of Representatives.
State Rep. John Diehl, R-Town and Country, newly-elected speaker of the House, made the appointment Wednesday.
Part of the 98th General Assembly, the committee is tasked with drafting the state's $26 billion budget.
"I am very appreciative that Speaker Diehl has given me the opportunity to serve in this capacity," Fitzpatrick said. "Since I was first elected, I have taken a keen interest in the budget, doing my best to prevent excessive spending, an identifying waste that could potentially be cut from the state budget.
"I will do my absolute best to serve the people of the 158th District and the State of Missouri as the vice chairman of the Budget Committee."
Fitzpatrick represents House District 158, which includes Barry County and portions of Stone and Lawrence counties, including the western half of Pierce City.
