Marvin Wayne Weems
Marvin Wayne Weems, 80, of Cassville, passed away Sunday, Jan. 11, 2015, in Cox South Hospital, Springfield.
He was born March 4, 1934, in Rocky Comfort, the son of Charley and Ocie Mae (Johnson) Weems. On Oct. 26, 1952, in Ridgley Baptist Church, he was united in marriage to Shirley Ann Birkes, and she survives.
Additional survivors include: four children, Randy Weems, of Eagle Rock, Greg Weems and his wife, Terri, of Blue Springs, Elizabeth Boehm and her husband, George, of Golden, and Rebecca VanGorkom and her husband, Rodney, of Bella Vista, Ark.; nine grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents and three brothers and one sister.
He grew up and received his education in Rocky Comfort, where he graduated from high school. For several years, he was employed for General Motors in Kansas City. In 1981, he and Shirley moved to the Lake in Mano, remaining there until 1994, when they moved to Cassville to make their home.
He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church at Washburn, where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Brother Rodney VanGorkom and Brother Lawrence Shuey will conduct the services. Burial will be at Maplewood Cemetery, Exeter.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time Saturday, in Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Washburn.
