Gunter Methodist gets new pastor

Rev. Mike Tharp has been appointed as the new pastor at the Gunter Methodist Church, located three and a half miles east of Butterfield off Highway U. Tharp has served as associate pastor at the church for the past four years. He and his wife, Amy, have two sons, Jake and Garrett, and live in Monett.

Affordable Care Act session to be held Jan. 15

The University of Missouri Extension, in partnership with Cox Health and the Cassville Branch Library, will host, "The Affordable Care Act: What Individuals Need to Know." The program will run from 6-7 p.m. on January 15 at the Cassville Branch Library, located at 301 W. 17th St. The session is free and open to the public. It is part of MU Extension's Health Insurance Education Initiative. Following the program, Certified Application Counselors will be available to answer questions and provide assistance. While not required, advance registration is appreciated. To register, people may call the Barry County Extension Center at 417-847-3161.

Exeter to host Donkey Basketball Game

Exeter's athletics program will host s Donkey Basketball Game on Jan. 15 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $6 in advance and $8 at the door, and the game will be held in the Exeter High School gym. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Exeter Athletic Booster Club, which funds things like uniforms and awards for Exeter athletes. Tickets may be purchased at L&L Stop and Shop, C&C Country Store an J&S Floral, or from any high school basketball player. Riders are also needed for the game, and those interested should contact Kerry Mattingly at 417-342-4251.

Senior Life Solutions gears up for Open House

Senior Life Solutions at Mercy Hospital in Cassville will host an Open House from 3-6 p.m. on Thursday. The event, which will include refreshments, aims to allow the public to get information about the new program. Senior Life Solutions is a program dedicated to addressing the emotional and behavioral health of adults over the age of 65.

Wheaton church to host week-long revival

The Body of Christ Outreach Ministries Center will host a revival from Jan. 12-16 at 7 p.m. nightly. The Revelators be at the revival, which will be held at the center, located at 501 S. Gilman in Wheaton. For more information, people may contact the church at 417-652-3709.
