Suspect in Washburn shooting caught in Arkansas
2-year-old girl not harmed after being kidnapped from scene
A man who allegedly killed a Washburn woman, injured another person and kidnapped a 2-year-old girl was apprehended by the Springdale Police Department's SWAT team in Springdale, Ark.
Barry County Sheriff Mick Epperly said the suspect, Christopher Paschall, 37, of Springdale, Ark., allegedly shot two people, killing one woman, near Farm Road 1055 and 8th Street in Washburn. He then allegedly kidnapped his 2-year-old daughter and fled to his mother's house in Springdale.
Epperly said law enforcement got a ping from Paschall's cell phone, leading Springdale's SWAT team to surround the home in which Paschall was found upstairs.
There was no harm done to the 2-year-old girl.
In Washburn, Epperly said the mother of the 2-year-old was killed, and another victim was flown to Cox South Hospital in Springfield with multiple gunshot wounds.
Paschall is being held in the Benton County, Ark., jail, and Epperly said investigators will go to Springdale tonight to interview him.
Epperly said Paschall is expected to be charged with murder, armed criminal action, kidnapping and breaking and entering.
Epperly also said more charges may be filed depending on how the hospitalized victim recovers. He said the victim was in critical condition as of 5 p.m. Monday.
