Sewer collection project ends November 2016

The Missouri Department of Natural Resources has awarded Cassville a $40,000 grant toward developing a strategic plan for the city's sewer collection system.

"The plan will consist of actions to make corrections over time to the collection system," said Steve Walensky, Cassville public works director.

The city will provide $10,000 toward the $50,000 sewer project, according to city documents. Cassville applied for the small community engineering assistance grant on April 24. The two-year grant period ends Nov. 14, 2016.

Cassville chose Olsson Engineering in Springfield to engineer the project, Walensky said.

The city completed a master plan in 2009, but it did not go into as much detail as the strategic plan.
