Inaugural event to feature 4 teams

Southwest High School took a big step earlier this year when it announced that it was adding a girls tournament to coincide with the annual boys tournament.

On Friday, the that dream becomes reality when Pea ridge (Ark.) and Wheaton tipoff at 3:30 p.m.

"I believe we have four strong girls programs this season," said Kenny Ferguson, Southwest athletic director. "We will be working hard to grow the field over the next few years."

This year's group includes Pea Ridge (Ark.), Wheaton, Galena and Southwest.

The teams will play a three-day round robin tournament to determine the champion.

Admission is $4 for adults and $3 for children.
