Cassville High School to crown winners on Dec. 19

Cassville High School's Mr. and Miss Merry Christmas candidates are gathering donations throughout the community to help underprivileged children in this year's Share Your Christmas campaign.

"It's always amazing on how much the candidates are able to raise," said Loura Etter, sponsor of the Cassville Student Council.

In 2013, the eight Mr. and Miss Merry Christmas candidates at Cassville High School raised $13,052.30 for Share Your Christmas.

The area businesses and residents do a great job of giving to the candidates, Etter said. The student council nominates three males and three females from each high school class, and each class votes for a male candidate and a female candidate.

This year's candidates are seniors Stussy Stephenson and Kallie Dickson, juniors Leigh Cox and Kiley Wolf, sophomores Kyle Ruark and Camille Holman, and freshmen Jeremiah Fisher and Jessie Edie.

The male and female candidates who raise the most money are respectively crowned Mr. and Miss Merry Christmas.

The winners are announced at a coronation ceremony Dec. 19, Etter said.
