Nomination deadline set for Friday

Community members can nominate area leaders in the inaugural 4 under 40 award competition through the Cassville Area Chamber of Commerce.

"The chamber loves the opportunity to brag on business leaders here in town," said Mindi Artherton, chamber director.

Michelle Bredeson, incoming chamber board president, said she and a couple of her co-workers at Cassville Commerce Bank came up with the idea for the award.

"We were just kind of brainstorming some ways to get younger people involved in community and leadership positions," said Bredeson, who becomes board president in January. "We thought maybe if we went ahead and recognized those that are involved, it might inspire some others."

The chamber recommends that businesses, clubs, organizations and people should write a couple paragraphs about why the nominee is a future or current leader of Cassville. The nomination should also include the nominee's name, position at a current employer, work responsibilities and community service and volunteer involvement. Each nominee's employer must be a chamber member.

Each nominee must be at least 39 or under on Friday's nomination deadline. The four winners will be announced Jan. 31 at the annual chamber banquet.

As of Nov. 25, Artherton said she has received 10 entries.

The chamber is looking to make this award competition an annual event but recognizing different people, Bredeson said. Next year, it might be women, seniors or another demographic.

Nominations should be sent to Artherton at or given to her at the chamber office, 504 Main St.
