City's businesses, residents compete from Dec. 6 to 13

The Cassville Area Chamber of Commerce encourages local businesses and residents to decorate for Christmas in the annual holiday lighting contest from Dec. 6 to 13.

No entry form is required, and participants just need to have their lights on from dusk to 10 p.m., said Mindi Artherton, chamber director.

"I'll have secret judges on the lookout that week," Artherton said.

The first-place winner in the commercial division gets a traveling trophy with the business' name on it, and the business gets to keep the trophy for a year.

The residential division receives the following prizes: First place wins two Pizza Hut certificates for large single topping pizzas and two combo meal certificates to Sonic Drive-In, second place wins a Christmas market basket donated by Forever Yours Embroidery, third place wins a $25 gift certificate to BBQ Station, and honorable mention wins coupons to Taco Bell.

The 2013 winner in the commercial division was the Red Rose Health and Rehabilitation Center (now called Roaring River Health and Rehabilitation), located at 812 Old Exeter Road.

The 2013 winners in the residential division were: James and Donna Brant, first place; Ronny Mast and Brenna Zucca, second place; Garry and Tess Elliott, third place; and Kevin and Bette Halterman, honorable mention.
