Cassville has 5 drop-off locations through Dec. 3

The Barry County Ozarks Area Community Action Corporation Neighborhood Center restarted its coat drive this year until Dec. 3.

"I can't imagine not being able to have a coat for my kid," said Gail Reed, the Neighborhood Center supervisor. "If we can do that for families and make sure that they stay warm, it just makes sense for us to try and get the coats and see if we can get the coats to the families."

The center did not have a coat drive last year, Reed said.

"We felt like we needed to do one this year because we had a lot of calls of people needing coats," she said.

People can drop off new or gently used coats, hoodies, gloves, stocking caps and scarves for all ages at Barry Electric Cooperative, located at 4015 Main St.; the Cassville Area Chamber of Commerce, located at 504 Main St.; First Baptist Church Cassville, located at 602 West St.; Freedom Bank, located at 97 Main St.; and the OACAC Neighborhood Center, located at 700 E. Highway 248.

OACAC also has Neighborhood Centers in Christian, Dade, Greene, Lawrence, Polk, Stone, Taney and Webster counties. Each center offers a case management program to help people achieve education and employment goals, emergency assistance, school readiness fairs, life skills classes and community projects.
