Longtime Cassville businessman joins Cassville Democrat staff
Former mayor to serve as marketing executive
A longtime Cassville businessman began his duties Monday as the Cassville Democrat's marketing executive.
Jim Craig owned and managed Cassville businesses for nearly 30 years prior to retiring last year. He served as Cassville mayor from 2001-07 and was on the city council from 2000-01.
Publisher Jacob Brower said Craig will serve as a liaison between the newspaper and the business community.
"I'm excited that we were able to talk Jim out of retirement," Brower said. "We are always looking for ways to strengthen our relationships with local businesses and the community as a whole. When the opportunity to bring Jim on board presented itself, it was a no-brainer. He already has many relationships in the community and is highly regarded. I know he will do a great job."
"It's great to have the opportunity to interact with the business, professional and education communities," Craig said. "These important sectors of our town make it a great place to live.
"The Cassville Democrat is an institution in our community. It's served Barry County for years and years, and I'm excited to be a part of it."
Craig is past president of the Cassville Chamber of Commerce, is active in the Cassville Rotary Club and volunteers for the Barry County Health Department. He is also active in Boy Scouts of America, and has been affiliated with Habitat for Humanity.
