Local nursing home residents to give candy

Local healthcare and rehab facilities' residents will create a Trail of Treats for area children on Halloween.

"They love being able to see the little kids in their costumes," said Erin Newton, activities director at Roaring River Health and Rehabilitation, formerly called Red Rose Health and Rehabilitation Center, at 812 Old Exeter Road.

The residents dress up, and they are in a line throughout the facility while handing out candy to the children, Newton said. The children even visit with the residents. Roaring River Health and Rehabilitation will have its Halloween event from 3-5 p.m. Oct. 31.

Several residents and staff members at Cassville Healthcare and Rehab, at 1300 County Farm Road, will also dress up in costumes and give candy to the area children, said Janice Martin, activities director at the facility. The Halloween festivities are from 3:30-5 p.m. Oct. 31.

Newton said she is planning a Halloween party for the Roaring River Health and Rehabilitation residents before Trails of Treats, where they get candy and play games.
