James E. Downey
James E. Downey, 68, of Cassville, passed away Friday, Oct. 24, 2014, in his home.
He was born Aug. 16, 1946, in Heber Springs, Ark., the son of John E. and Evalena (Elson) Downey. On July 10, 1970, he was united in marriage to Lynda Talbert, who survives.
Additional survivors include: one son, John Downey and his wife, Shanda, of Butterfield; and three grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
He graduated from high school in Darrington, Wash. During the Vietnam War, he was in the U.S. Army, serving from Oct. 25, 1966, to Aug. 16, 1968. He moved to Cassville 44 years ago and was employed at Friend Tire as a truck driver.
He was a member of VFW, American Legion, Masonic Blue Lodge in Monett and Abou Ben Adhem Shrine in Springfield.
Funeral services were held Monday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Pastor Doyle Russell conducted the services. Burial with military honors was at Russell Cemetery, Butterfield.
