Benny Lynn Cron
Benny Lynn Cron, 62, of Seligman, passed away Sunday, Oct. 19, 2014, in his home.
He was born Aug. 20, 1952, in Kansas City, the son of Clarence Vancil and Jewell Alene (Hammers) Cron. On April 1, 1974, he was united in marriage to Evelyn J. Martin, who survives.
Additional survivors include: one son, Troy Lynn Cron and his wife, Sarah, of Berryville, Ark.; one daughter, Jody Ann Nelson and her husband, Jeremy, of Seligman; his mother, Jewell "Jean" Janes, of Seligman; four brothers, Doug Cron, of Kansas City, Kan., Mike Janes, of Graham, N.C., and Tony Janes and Ted Janes, both of Mt. Vernon; six sisters, Connie Collins and Carol Cron, both of Washburn, Sallie Straw, of Sarcoxie, Becky Gatrell, of Springfield, and Ruth Pritchett and Betty Lewellen, both of Seligman; 10 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. Preceding him in death were his father and one brother, Jim Cron.
He grew up and received his education in Mt. Vernon, where he graduated from high school. He moved to Seligman in 1973. For a few years, he was employed with Emerson Electric Co., and for 20 years he worked for Scott Paper Company. He was a volunteer with the Seligman Fire Department for 35 years and served as captain. He was also a first responder, trail walker for the fire department, member of Seligman Lions Club, Seligman Area Sportsman Club and Barry County Search and Rescue.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Pastor Dale Stover will conduct the services. Burial will be at King Cemetery, Seligman.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville.
