John Arlen Dillbeck
John Arlen Dillbeck, 80, of Shell Knob, passed away Thursday, Oct. 16, 2014, in his home.
He was born May 11, 1934, in Crane, the son of John Herman and Fern Lucille (Chastain) Dillbeck. On Oct. 1, 1989, in Norco, Calif., he was united in marriage to Linelle Annette Wiegel, who survives.
Additional survivors include: three daughters, Kim Dillbeck and her husband, Joel Huschle, of Pomona, Calif., Wendi Cope and her husband, Mark, of Clatskanie, Oreg., and Nicole Lautrup, of Santa Rosa, Calif.; one son, Jeff Lautrup and his wife, Teresa, of Windsor, Calif.; one brother, Bill Dillbeck and his wife, Sandy, of Springfield; one sister, Clara Hull and her husband, Marion, of Marionville; and two grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents and one sister.
He graduated high school in Shawnee Mission, Kan., and received his engineering degree from Kansas City College. During the Korean War, he joined the U.S. Air Force, serving from March 27, 1953 until March 26, 1957. He then moved to California where he was an aerospace engineer for Rockwell International in Anaheim, remaining there until 1990. After his retirement, he moved to Shell Knob, Missouri, to make his home.
He was a member of Central Community United Methodist Church in Shell Knob, where services were held today (Wednesday) under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Shell Knob. Pastor Barry Fielder conducted the services. Burial with military honors was at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield.
