Club connects Exeter FFA, community
Inaugural barbecue Saturday will raise scholarship funds
The Exeter FFA Booster Club will host its inaugural barbecue from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in Exeter City Park to raise money for scholarships.
The club started in May to give scholarships to graduating seniors who are members of Exeter's Future Farmers of America and plan to major in agriculture in college, said Alisha Scott, club treasurer. The club's main goal this year is to raise enough funds for a $250 scholarship and a $500 scholarship.
The club, which wants to connect the community with the Exeter FFA, has 10 to 15 members, Scott said. It will have membership forms at the barbecue. The club meets each month at the Exeter School's Ag Building.
The barbecue is $5 per plate. Dinners include a pulled pork sandwich or hot dog, and chips and a drink.
The club will also have a raffle where people could win a $50 Race Brothers gift card, a gift card to Sew-It-All in Monett, a free pair of Justin Boots or 500 pounds of 12 percent feed at Exeter Feed Mill. Each ticket costs $1 or six tickets cost $5.
Brightwater Junction performs at 2 p.m.
If it rains, the event will be moved into the multi-purpose room.
