Stolen Bobcat recently recovered
Sheriff's Office still investigating case
A piece of Bobcat equipment, which was stolen two years ago out of Lawrence County, has been returned to its owner, according to the Barry County Sheriff's Office.
Sheriff Mick Epperly received a tip Sept. 19 about a possibly stolen Bobcat, according to a press release from the Sheriff's Office. Epperly and Detective Robert Evenson drove to a location outside of Wheelerville.
Epperly observed a white male driving the Bobcat, according to the release. Epperly told the male subject that the Bobcat was possibly stolen two years ago out of Lawrence County, and the sheriff had to check for serial numbers and identifying marks. The driver stated that he had gotten the Bobcat from his brother about a year ago.
Epperly said the Bobcat had some of the identifying marks like the ones reported, but he needed to tow the Bobcat to a location where he could find the serial number, according to the release.
On Sept. 22, Epperly went to the impound shop and was able to match the serial number on the Bobcat to the one stolen out of Lawrence County.
The Sheriff's Office is still investigating the case.
