Shell Knob Chamber director resigning

Shell Knob Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Karen Elsey is voluntarily retiring from the position effective in mid-October. The chamber is now accepting applications to fill the position.

Buddy Bass Tournament on Saturday

There is still time to sign up for Saturday's Homer Sloan Buddy Bass Tournament. Now in its 35th year, this year's event will feature fishing, fun, cash prizes as well as door prizes, and a 100 percent payout for the Biggest Bass Pot on Table Rock Lake! Cash prizes will be awarded for the Biggest Stringer from first through fifth place. Weigh-in is at 4 p.m. at Campbell Point Marina, with a full steak dinner. An optional pre-tournament will be held Friday from 7:30 a.m. to noon at King's Marina.

Jenkins sets date for 15th Annual Fish Fry and Auction

The Jenkins Fire Department will host its 15th Annual Fish Fry and Auction on Saturday at Station No. 1, located on Highway 248 at the Flat Creek Bridge, the old highway department building. Music provided by Ripplin' Creek will begin at 4:30 p.m. A Serving of fish, chicken, baked beans, slaw, hush puppies, dessert and a drink will begin at 5 p.m. and continue until 7 p.m. The All-You-Can-Eat meal will cost $9 for adults and $4 for children 10 and under. The auction of donated items from area businesses and individuals will begin at 6:30 p.m. Tickets for a quilt donated by Fern Mease will be sold, and the winner drawn, and there will be a 50-50 drawing. The annual event is sponsored by the association, which is the volunteer arm of the department. Those who are not able to fight fires can help fund raise to supply additional money to keep the department viable and well equipped. Washburn conducting sewer tests

The city of Washburn is conducting a smoke test of its sewer system no through Friday. The smoke is non-toxic, non-staining, has no odor and creates no fire hazards. The smoke should not enter a home unless it has defective plumbing or dried up drain traps. If anyone at a home or business suffers from respiratory issues and is immobile, they should notify city hall by calling 417-846-3203 or 417-846-5242. More information about the tests may be found in person at city hall.

Swap Meet and Craft Show coming to Seligman

The Seligman Chamber of Commerce will have a Swap Meet and Craft Show on Friday and Saturday. To get a booth space, people may call 417-662-3612 or 479-381-2133. Booth space is $30 for two days, inside or outside, and tables are available. Food concession will be provided. The event will be held at the Seligman Chamber Event Center on Highway 37 north.

Ducks Unlimited hosting dinner on Oct. 11

Barry/Lawrence County Ducks Unlimited will hold its annual member dinner on Oct. 11 at 5:30 p.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church Parish Hall. A silent auction and social hour will begin at 5:30 p.m., and dinner will be at 6:30 p.m. with live auction following. Tickets are $35 for a single, $50 for a couple and $15 for a Greenwing. Chamber taking reservations for fall train ride

The Seligman Chamber of Commerce is taking reservations for the fall train ride from Seligman to Van Buren, Ark., on Oct. 11 and Oct. 12. Coinciding with Arts and Craft days in Van Buren, the train ride allows participants to travel the Boston Mountains, shop in old Van Buren, and hear music in the street.
