Jerry Ray Kerr, 73, passed away on Friday, Sept. 26, 2014. He was born on June 11, 1941, in Stella to the late Ovan and Grace (Pogue) Kerr. He graduated from Rocky Comfort High School in 1959. Soon after graduation, he worked for Hallmark Cards in Kansas City. He served in the Army, from May, 1967, to June, 1970. Jerry was a combat veteran of Vietnam, where he was awarded the National Defense Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal, two Purple Hearts and the Combat Infantryman Badge. He then worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 33 years.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Ovena Green.

Survivors include: three brothers, Jim Bowman, of Carthage, Duane Kerr and his wife, Shirley, of Stella, and Bob Kerr, of Rocky Comfort; and three sisters, JoAnn Talley and her husband, Louis, of Anderson, Wanna Lou Orth and her husband, Keith, of Raymore, and Linda Poe and her husband, Jack, of Noel.

Graveside services with military honors were held Monday in Rocky Comfort Cemetery under direction of McQueen Funeral Home, Wheaton. Pastor Frank Smith conducted the services.
