Buford Dencil Ball
Buford Dencil Ball, 91, of Eagle Rock, passed away Thursday, Aug. 21, 2014, at the home of his son, Gary Ball, in Exeter.
He was born Nov. 13, 1922, at home in Eagle Rock, the son of Eldon and Eva (Prier) Ball. On June 12, 1944, in Berryville, Ark., he was united in marriage to Marzelle Jackson, who preceded him in death on May 15, 2000. Also preceding him in death were his parents and two sisters, Novetta and Ruby.
Survivors include: three sons, Dencil "Denny" Ball and his wife, Linda, of Eagle Rock, Larry Ball, of Purdy, and Gary Ball and his wife, Rose, of Exeter; two daughters, Winona Ball, of Cassville, and Lavon Essary and her husband, Dwayne, of Marionville; one sister, Wilma Swanson, of Republic; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
He was a life-long resident of Eagle Rock. He attended school at Munsey and graduated from Cassville High School. During World War II, he joined the U.S. Navy, serving from Sept. 4, 1944, until April 2, 1946. He was a farmer a self-employed carpenter. He was a member of Roaring River Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held Monday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Pastor Tony Ball and Pastor Richard Jones conducted the services. Burial with military honors was at Munsey Cemetery, Eagle Rock.
