Virginia Lee "Ginny" Bowler

Virginia Lee "Ginny" Bowler, 89, of Shell Knob, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 16, 2014, in her home. She was born Oct. 3, 1924, in Bolivar, the daughter of George R. and Antha Lee (Morgan) Martin. On Sept. 14, 1940, she was united in marriage to Harley William "Bill" Bowler in Ashland, Kan. He preceded her in death on Dec. 24, 1979. Also preceding were her parents, sons, Billy George and premature twin sons, and sisters, Francis Rodriguez and Dixie Harris.

Survivors include: one brother, George L. Martin, of Beaver, Okla.; children, Myrl Leon Bowler, Willa Dean Naugle, William Lee Bowler, Marion Elmo Bowler, and Kay Lynn Ward, all of Springfield, and Gail Marie Williams, of Shell Knob; 16 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great grandchildren.

She was CEO of B & R Well Drilling and Ginny Lee's Restaurant in Springfield. Thirty years ago, she moved to Shell Knob and owned and operated multiple restaurants before retiring. She was a member of Lakeside Christian Church in Shell Knob. Pastor Chet Shaw conducted the funeral service Wednesday at Fohn Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held by Pastor Shaw at National Cemetery, Glenstone and Seminole, in Springfield, at 10 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 22.
