Blaine Edmondson Brock
Blaine Edmondson Brock, 81, of Cassville, passed away Thursday, Aug. 14, 2014, in Cox Medical Center South in Springfield.
He was born Oct. 10, 1932, near Cassville, the son of Oliver P. and Carrie (Edmondson) Brock. On June 10, 1967, in Cassville, he was united in marriage to Allene Stubblefield, who survives.
Additional survivors include: a daughter, Susan Lane and her husband, Norman, of Springfield; and two step-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents; three brothers, Roger, Gene and Don Brock, and three sisters, Jessie Hutchens, Georgia Sisney and Mary Davidson.
He grew up and received his education in Cassville, where he graduated from Cassville High School with the class of 1950. During the Korean War he joined the U.S. Navy, serving from 1952 until 1956. In November 1957, he became owner and operator of the Spudnut Shop in Cassville until August 1979; then again from July 1984, until July 1985. He established the shoe plant cafeteria inside Vaisey-Bristol Shoe Plant from June 1966, until August 1977. In March 1980, he was employed at Cassville Golf Course, remaining there 25 years.
He was a charter member of Emmanuel Baptist Church over 40 years prior to moving his membership to Corinth Baptist Church. He was also a member of American Legion Post 118.
Funeral services were held Monday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Burial with military honors was at Oak Hill Cemetery, Cassville.
