Tax sale to be held on Aug. 25

The Barry County Collector of Revenue will hold the County Tax Sale in the Barry County Courthouse at 10 a.m. on Aug. 25.

Cassville looks for planning

and zoning board members

The city of Cassville is looking for residents to serve on the planning and zoning board, the board of adjustments or any other committee with city. Applications are available at city hall. Wheaton Historical Society,

Museum hosting 'Quilts Galore-ious'

The Wheaton Historical Society and the Wheaton Depot Museum will present a collection of quilts from Wheaton and the surrounding area on Aug. 23. The quilts will be set up at three venues, including the Depot Museum, the caboose on the museum grounds and the Wheaton Elementary School cafeteria. Each location is within walking distance of Wheaton City Park, where the 56th Annual Wheaton BBQ will be held on the same day. A special event for the day will be the awarding of the one-of-a-kind quilt already hanging in the museum. More than 30 women from the area contributed to the quilt. Raffle tickets will be available from the Historical Society members until the drawing at 7:30 p.m. Admission to all events will be free, and those wishing to have a quilt included in the show should call Nola McMillen at 417-628-3817, Sue Wilkins at 417-652-3736, Betty Lamberson at 417-825-0076, or the volunteer staff at the museum on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday afternoons from 1-4 p.m. at 417-652-3263.

Maloney Family Reunion set for Aug. 17

Descendants of Samuel and Martha (Tate) Maloney will be holding their annual Family Runion on Aug. 17 at the Community Faith Church, located east of Cassville at the intersection of Hwy. 248 and 13th Street. The gathering will begin shortly after noon, and a potluck lunch will be served at 1 p.m. Those who attend should bring a covered dish.

Wheaton VFD sets date for annual barbecue

The Wheaton Volunteer Fire Department will host the 56th Annual Wheaton BBQ on Aug. 23 in Wheaton City Park. There will be free rides for children beginning at 1 p.m. and continuing throughout the day. Large tents will be set up for crafters. There will be no charge for the booth spaces, and anyone interested in a space may call Lindy Lombard at 417-652-7359 to reserve a spot. Grandstand entertainment will begin at 1 p.m. and continue throughout the afternoon and evening until the annual duck race in the park at 8 p.m. At 8:30 p.m., the 221 Band will perform. Anyone with questions about the event may call Lombard.
