New CHS student sign-ups today, Thursday

Students who will be new to Cassville High School in the fall may register at the high school on Wednesday and Thursday from 9-11:30 a.m. and from 12:30-2 p.m. either day. Materials necessary for registration include the following: birth certificate, Social Security card, immunization record, proof of residency and copies of any court document pertaining to guardianship and parental rights if the student does not live with his or her legal parent. A parent or guardian should accompany the student.

Exeter hosting kindergarten screenings

Exeter Elementary School is hosting its kindergarten screenings on Aug. 1 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. To set up an appointment, parents should call the elementary office at 417-835-2922. Parents should also bring a birth certificate, an immunization record, proof of residency and the child's Social Security number. Children must be five years old on or before July 31 to enter kindergarten. Children must be four years old on or before July 31 to enter pre-school.

Wheaton VFD sets date for annual barbecue

The Wheaton Volunteer Fire Department has set its annual barbecue for Saturday, Aug. 23 in Wheaton's city park. There will be free rides for children beginning at 1 p.m. and continuing throughout the day. Large tents will be set up for crafters. There will be no charge for the booth spaces, and anyone interested in a space may call Lindy Lombard at 417-652-7359 to reserve a spot. Grandstand entertainment will begin at 1 p.m. and continue throughout the afternoon and evening until the annual duck race in the park at 8 p.m. At 8:30 p.m., the 221 Band will perform. Anyone with questions about the event may call Lombard.

Farwell Family Reuniion set for Saturday

The Annual Farwell Family Reunion wil be Saturday at the Cassville High School Commons area at 11:30 a.m. Lunch will be at noon and pictures at 1 p.m. Local people are asked to being a covered dish.
