Delmar "Cotton" Hayes

Delmar "Cotton" Hayes, 87, of Monett, Mo., passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2014, while at Cox South Medical Center in Springfield, Mo.

Cotton was born on April 14, 1927, in Butterfield, Mo., son of the late Ola and Rosie (Perkins) Hayes. For many years, Cotton was a car salesman, first with Pryor Motors in Monett and later for Bunnell Motors in Purdy. He was without a doubt, a true St. Louis Cardinals fan, listening to and watching hundreds of games in his lifetime. He enjoyed spending time in his garden, training bird dogs, hunting and fishing. He just loved being outdoors.

On March 4, 1949, in Cassville, Mo., Cotton married Frances Ju Sands. To this union, they were blessed with three children. Frances preceded him in death on December 3, 1997. He was also preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.

Cotton is survived by his three daughters, Lindy Maus, and husband Rick Grayson, of Nixa, Mo., Sandy Kinney, and husband Brad, of Republic, Mo., and Leesa Ginther, and husband, Chris, of Monett; one brother, Bob Hayes, and wife, Kay, of Cassville, Mo.; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends.

Following cremation, graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at the Horner Cemetery, south of Cassville, Mo. Rev. Ronnie Howerton will be officiating. Memorial contributions can be made to the Monett V.F.W. Post #4207 in care of the funeral home. Arrangements have been entrusted to Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett, Mo.
