Delbert "Red" Phillips, Jr., 81, of Cassville, died on Sunday, July 13, 2014. He was born in Craig, Mo., on April 16, 1933, the son of Delbert Phillips, Sr., and Velma (Singleton) Phillips.

In 1954, he married Alma Burnett and to this union three sons were born, Delbert "Butch" Phillips, III, Rickey Phillips and David Phillips.

In 2011, he married Sylvia Sturgeon, who survives. Additional survivors include: his sons, Delbert Lee "Butch" Phillips, III, of Holiday Island, Ark., and David Phillips, of Austin, Texas; one brother, Wendell Phillips of Oregon, Mo.; one sister Sharon Gates, of Shenandoah, Iowa; eight grandchildren; 11 great- grandchildren; two stepsons, Don Sturgeon and David Sturgeon, both of Las Vegas, Nev.; and three step-grandchildren.

He was active in the Cassville Senior Center and the Cassville United Methodist Church. He was also a member of VFW 4207 and was adjutant. Other organizations of which he was a member were the Golden Harvest Club, Cassville Chamber of Commerce, Kiwanis and IOOF. He served in the U.S. Air Force. He had worked for the Cassville Elementary School. After retiring, he delivered prescriptions for Sater Pharmacy and helped at Fohn Funeral Home.

Preceding him in death were: his parents; his first wife, Alma; one son, Rickey Phillips; one brother, Don Phillips; and one sister, Mary Ann Allan.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, at the United Methodist Church in Cassville under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Pastor Andy Lambel will conduct the services.

Contributions may be made to Cassville United Methodist Church or Cassville Senior Center in his memory.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Saturday in the church.
