Sylvan Jennings Falmer

Sylvan Jennings Falmer, 83, of Shell Knob, passed away Tuesday, July 8, 2014, in his home.

He was born Jan. 8, 1931, in Revillo, S.D., the son of S. Fred and Jenny (Lind) Falmer. On Aug. 12, 1962, in Mt. Vernon, he was united in marriage to Helen E. Finley, who survives.

Additional survivors include: one son, Dan Falmer and his wife, Okim, of Dallas, Texas; one daughter, Debbie Wilkerson and her husband, Danny, of West Memphis, Ark.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents and one brother, Marion Falmer.

He graduated from high school in Mt. Vernon and received his bachelor's degree from Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield. From Jan. 11, 1955, until Jan. 10, 1957, he served in the U.S. Army. For several years, he was a teacher at Sarcoxie High School. In 1999, he moved to Shell Knob to make his home.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 11 in Fohn Funeral Home, Shell Knob. Pastor Mark Cryer will conduct the services. Burial will be in Lake Park Memorial Gardens, Shell Knob.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday in Fohn Funeral Home, Shell Knob.
